I met the Arnold family at their home in Thompson, Manitoba and we headed to the nearby Millennium Trail for a family photo session. The Millennium Trail is a great location for photography; at 15 kilometres in length, you’re guaranteed to find a scenic place to work, regardless of the time of day or season. I’d never been on this section of the trail (I’ve walked probably 2/3rds of it in total; I should probably plan a consecutive round trip one of these days) and was pleasantly surprised with the diversity of the landscape over such a short distance.
There were some lovely shaded and semi shaded spots along the way.

There’s something timeless about taking photos on a dirt road. However, because this road sized section is considered a trail, it’s a slightly safer place to work than a legitimate dirt road! We still kept our eyes and ears peeled for random off-road vehicles though!

I was able to capture some sweet sibling photos when the kids stopped to pick up some rocks on the way back home.

When the children are a little bit older (and therefore able to entertain themselves for a few minutes without Mum and Dad) I sometimes suggest taking a few photos of just the adults. I know first hand how rare it is to get a photo with only your spouse so, if I can, I like to take a few frames of just the parents.

After we took our photos on the trail, I spied this awesome brick wall and suggested we take a few photos there as well. The result was a completely different feel than the rest of the session, but I really like how it turned out.

It was so nice to meet and work with you! Thanks again for introducing me to some lovely new outdoor locations.![]()
So, silly me, I thought I’d have a lot of spare time in June to get ready for summer, but nope, June is shaping up to be as busy as ever. Fortunately most things are lining up nicely; if I only had a crystal ball to forecast which wedding days are going to end up with rainy weather, I’d be set!![]()
Have a great week!
