Another glimpse into my life: A few days at the beach

Like many Canadians, my parents enjoy an escape to Florida for a few weeks during the winter and spring, to thaw out and visit with their “snowbird” friends.  This year they rented a two-bedroom condo on the beach in the hopes that we might be able to join them for a few days.  We managed to find six-consecutive days where we could get away, and off we went!

The condo is located right on the beach (just south of Clearwater on the Western side of the state), which is a wonderful area.  Thanks to the great location I was able to go for a walk, take some photos and walk back in just a few minutes to drop my camera off whenever I pleased.  Suffice it to say, I used the opportunity to get my “fix” of taking beach photos – how I envy those who live near the ocean!  I definitely took living near the sea for granted growing up in Nova Scotia.  I also had a lot of fun photographing our son who loves to swim.

It’s great to get away to somewhere new, and see the world with fresh eyes!  Even simple sea grass is inspiring when you haven’t seen it in awhile.

Saul loved rinsing off the sand in the outdoor shower.  He sure loves the water!

I can’t get enough of the beach vegetation.  The fact that anything can thrive in salty, sandy soil will always amaze me.Needless to say we took in a LOT of sunsets (okay, so it was only five, but that’s more than we usually watch in an average week!)Saul really enjoyed spending time with his grandparents and of course they enjoyed spending time with him!  He liked walking along the beach with his Grammie, looking for shells and sea creatures. Some interesting little plants in the sand.
When it was time to go back inside for the evening, this was the usual response from Saul!
There were more smiles than scowls though!  Saul is fearless when it comes to the water; he doesn’t mind getting completely dunked.
Most times he wanted us to step back when he jumped in but of course we were always close at hand.
There were some very brightly hued shells on the beach.I’ve never seen a shell with such bright yellow colouring before.  It wasn’t added after the fact, if you wondered!More beautiful waves…

And one last sunset! And to finish off, a few more photos of Saul.:) I think he’s pretty cute, but I’m biased!

It was nice to get away, but I’m glad to be back home!  I’m not staying put for long though… I’ll be in Thompson for a few days next week, and thus the summer of LOTS of travel will be underway!

Have a super weekend everyone!

Janet
