Jamie & Erika ~ Just Married {Winnipeg wedding at Terrace-Fifty Five}

My last wedding of the 2012 season was spent with Jamie and Erika at Terrace Fifty-Five, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was a wonderful day full of lots of love and laughter. The late October weather even co-operated so that I was able take a few night-time shots on the terrace (without completely freezing everyone!) Here are a few sneak previews of their day.

Cory & Roxie’s dog gone cute Winnipeg engagement session

I recently headed to Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park with Cory, Roxie and their adorable dog, Leo, for their engagement session. Yes, another engagement session in the park! However, it’s a different take on the same place…. I think I could shoot there every single week for a year and find a new way to interpret what I see each and every time… in fact it might be interesting to undertake that challenge. :)

Sande & Stan: Late winter engagement photography in Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park

Sande and Stan are one of my summer 2011 wedding couples. Sande currently lives and works out of town, so when we set a date to shoot their engagement session at the end of March, it was 50/50 if we’d get a springlike day or a wintery one. As you can tell, there was still lots of snow, which ended up giving their session more of a winter than a springtime feel, but that was okay – the chill in the air just gave them more excuses for them to cozy up to each other!

Tracy & Jeff’s romantic nighttime engagement session in Assiniboine Park

I’ve photographed winter engagement sessions, and I’ve photographed engagement sessions after dark, but until late December, I’d never combined the two! Tracy and Jeff were game to try something a little bit different, and as luck would have it, the night we had set aside for photos was fairly warm.

We first headed to Assiniboine Park, which is a beautiful location in the daytime, let alone after dark! With a fairly fresh blanket of snow on the ground, and a slightly overcast sky, it made for a beautiful, romantic setting. As it was just a few days before Christmas, we also headed to a local holiday landmark for a few photos, the Christmas lights display at the Taylor’s on Roblin Blvd. We didn’t ride the train, but it was well worth checking out the elaborate light displays and working them into our evening.

Jeff & Alanna’s fairytale wedding at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory

I think it’s safe to say that Alanna is a bit of a romantic – her goal was to have a fairytale princess feel to her wedding day, and she certainly got her wish! The Assiniboine Park Conservatory was the perfect venue for a late October wedding; the lush greenery and amazing Japanese inspired decor made for a delightful setting, complete with a torii gate to complete the look (the Conservatory changes things up every few weeks and it’s always a great surprise to see what they’ve come up with!)
