Mark & Aimee’s FortWhyte Alive wedding in Winnipeg

On Saturday, August 7th, 2010 I had the pleasure of photographing Mark and Aimee’s wedding at FortWhyte Alive in Winnipeg. You may remember them from their engagement session at The Forks back in March.

Everywhere you look at FortWhyte Alive, there is beauty. Add a gorgeous bride, a handsome groom and an easy going wedding party and it’s a photographer’s dream! Here are some of my favourites from their day.

The Anderson Family – Winnipeg family & sibling portraiture in Bruce Park

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m very fortunate… I live right between Winnipeg’s Bruce Park and Assiniboine Park, on a quiet little street surrounded by trees. The Anderson family knew they wanted outdoor photos, so when they arrived for their family portrait session, we opted to head to Bruce Park, which is the quieter park of the two and a great photo location. The only downside was the ungodly amount of mosquitoes; the city was overdue on spraying for them and the 30% DEET bug lotion we applied to our skin wasn’t deterring them one bit. I worked as fast as I could to mitigate the bug bites, but I’m pretty sure everyone had their share by the time we were finished.

Matt and Lauren’s Winnipeg Engagement Session, Part Two: Assiniboine Park

When we first decided on the Red River Exhibition as an engagement session venue, I thought we should probably hedge our bets and do some additional photos in another location. We went to a fairly hidden corner of Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park just as the sun was starting to set for this portion of the session.
